Seagate GoFlex Satellite streams media over WiFi to iPad or Android Tablet

Storage capabilities of tablets like Apple iPad and Samsung Galaxy Tab are very limited, even at 64GB. What if you want to access a huge collection of your media library containing music, movies, documents and photos?

Thanks to my officemate Charles, he introduced me to Seagate GoFlex Satellite Mobile Wireless Storage. It's basically a portable external hard drive that streams media over WiFi to three (3) WiFi enabled devices at the same time.

GoFlex Satellite Mobile Wireless Storage specifications:
  • Automatically sync media and documents from your PC or Mac® computer
  • 500GB of storage capacity
  • Up to 5 hours battery life2
  • Up to 25 hours standby time2
  • 802.11 b/g/n Wi-Fi delivers reliable skip-free streaming
  • Wi-Fi range of more than 30 feet
Not only it is able to be used by 3 different devices at the same time, but it also allows the viewing of different files in each device. It's compatible with a desktop/laptop or smarthphone and can be run with either Windows or Mac.

I think this is a great gadget for families who love watching movies and sharing photos or music with one another. Priced at $199.99, I am thinking if my sister and I can share the cost of purchasing one and then use it when we're at home. That way, we get to watch different videos using two iPads/laptop.

Reviews say the device is great, but still has some improvement areas in terms of implementation. You may read it here and here.

Do you know any other gadget at a lower price that is capable of doing the same functionality? Or do you own for yourself? Lemme know via comment below.
