Gmail Intros Preview Pane to Make Email Viewing Faster

By now, many of the tablet users would be very familiar to using either a web or native application that allows instant viewing of the messages. Just recently, Google Labs has introduced a Preview Pane feature that we can enable to view messages faster, without leaving the whole list of emails we received.

I personally am rejoicing for this new feature, since all the mail applications in my laptop and tablet are using multiple columns for accessing my inbox. Thanks, Google!

So how do we enable this feature? It's very easy.

Navigate to Gmail > Mail Settings (upper right) > Labs. Scroll down to or find "Preview Pane," enable it, and save your changes.

When you go back to your inbox, you won't instantly see the changes. However, there will be a drop down list on the top-right part of the message list. With this, you can toggle the type of view you want.

Depending on your choice, you will be able to see these changes with adjustable panes:
Vertical Split

No Split - Basically the normal Gmail you have

Horizontal Split

There's a Gmail option to also change how long the conversation will be marked as read (Immediately, After 1 second, After 3 Seconds or Never). To do this, just go to Gmail > Mail Settings (upper right) > General and look for the "Preview Pane" option.

If you'd like to remove the new layout, simply return to Gmail setting and disable the lab feature.

Which view are you most comfortable with? Enjoy!
