Photographer's Friend: Crumpler Sebang Outpost

Sebang Outpost... what a name, right? At first glance, you'd consider it as one of those things that normally, you’d be ashamed to wear outside, lest you face the snickers and jeers of the people around you. But NO! Crumpler is at it again by showing us that it can take even the laughing stock of the bag world and turn it into the most functional and coolest-looking accessory you’ll need.

The Crumpler Sebang Outpost was certainly designed with one profession in mind: photography. The compartments inside the main bag are made to hold your standard DSLR camera, two extra lenses, and some additional accessories. It even has a special compartment to securely carry a 7-inch tablet, such as an iPad mini.

The front pocket allows for all your small knick-knacks such as pens, lens caps, additional memory cards and the like. Both compartments are pretty spacious too – the dividers within the main compartment are the signature Velcro flaps which allow you to customize its configuration. With all that inside, they’ll fit snugly so they don’t hit each other while you’re on the move.

Speaking of being on the move, the bag’s construction is very sturdy. The Crumpler Sebang Outpost is part of the Outpost Project line, which is Crumpler’s rugged models created to withstand harsh conditions that normal bags couldn’t. This allows you to take your camera and accessories out on hiking trips, keep it safe from severe downpours and nasty accidental falls. It’s just solid construction all around. The zippers are sealed tight to prevent any dust and water from seeping in.

An additional feature of the bag is that its strap is not limited to just hanging around your waist. You can stretch the strap out and actually make it a shoulder bag as well – making it convenient to carry either as a body bag or around your waist, keeping your gadgets no further than an arms’ reach away.

Since we’re talking about Crumpler here, it comes in some snazzy color combinations: midnight blue, orange brick or rifle green, which is what we have for review. All of these come with a bright blue and gray inside, which provides a nice contrast of color to an otherwise normal-looking bag.

The Crumpler Sebang Outpost is most certainly is one of the most functional and convenient bags a photographer can have. Just a fair warning though: once you have your own Sebang Outpost, you most certainly will feel the urge to get out of the house and may possibly consider never going back in again.
