Google Chrome Themes & Youtube Tip

Google aims to make its products more personalized by giving customization options to its consumers. In the previous months, Google has launched its themes for Gmail, and just recently they have enabled customization of Google Chrome's look and feel through themes as well.

With its recent Artist Themes for Google Chrome, the browser developer invited leading artists, architects, musicians, illustrators, filmmakers and fashion and interior designers from across the globe to create artwork for an unusual canvas: the modern web browser. The result, of course, is a mixture of passive and wild designs from both simple and overly creative artists. In addition, Google also has its own set of themes, but these are more on the simple side.

Haven't changed your browser's theme yet? You just need to open a new tab (Ctrl+T or click New Tab) and click on the lower right-striped design in your browser. Choose from hundreds of themes available.

Google Chrome tip on how to download Youtube videos after the jump.

Tip: Download Youtube Videos
You can actually download a Youtube video in .FLV .MP4 or .3GP format straight for your Google Chrome, without the need to access any other websites. Here's how:

Step 1: Create a new bookmark and call it "Download YouTube" or something you will remember. For the address field, paste the code:

javascript:window.location.href = '' + swfArgs['video_id']+ "&fmt=Number" + "&l=" + swfArgs['l'] + "&sk=" + swfArgs['sk'] + '&fmt_map' + swfArgs['fmt_map'] + '&t=' + swfArgs['t'];

Replace the "Number" in red with your choice of video format to download:
  • fmt=0 -> flv: 320x240 (flv1) / mp3 1.0 22KHz (same as fmt=5)
  • fmt=5 -> flv: 320x240 (flv1) / mp3 1.0 22KHz
  • fmt=6 -> flv: 480x360 (flv1) / mp3 1.0 44KHz (No more...)
  • fmt=13 -> 3gp: 176x144 (mpg4) / ??? 2.0 8KHz
  • fmt=17 -> 3gp: 176x144 (mpg4) / ??? 1.0 22KHz
  • fmt=18 -> mp4: 480x360 (H264) / AAC 2.0 44KHz
  • fmt=22 -> mp4: 1280x720 (H264) / AAC 2.0 44KHz
  • fmt=34 -> flv: 320x240 (flv?) / ??? 2.0 44KHz (default now)
  • fmt=35 -> flv: 640x380 (flv?) / ??? 2.0 44KHz
Step 2: Save your bookmark.
Step 3: Go to Youtube and search for your favorite video. When it starts playing, just click your "Download Youtube" bookmark and you will see that the video will start downloading in your browser.
