Share Ideas, Go Beyond the Earth Hour

IdeasProject is an online community powered by Nokia in partnership with the World Wildlife Fund (WWF) where anyone can brainstorm and share their ideas centered on how mobile phones and applications can improve our ability to live in a sustainable way.

Tagged as Beyond Earth Hour Challenge, this initiative complements the Earth Hour's call to "go beyond the hour" or simply for us not to stop after the Earth Hour last March 26. Running from March 25-April 14, the challenge calls for people to think and share ideas on how we can use our mobile devices to make the world a better place to live in. Why mobile devices? Because throughout the years, these mobile devices have represented a powerful way to bring the world together, thus presenting a major impact in helping save the environment through sustainable way of living.

“Through IdeasProject and WWF, we’re calling on people to take things further and use this ability to connect for greater purpose. We challenge them to use their imagination to come up with ideas on how to use mobile phones and mobile technology to benefit the planet. This is the time to innovate, share, discuss and develop things further for a greener planet,” said Nikka Abes, Corporate Communications Manager, Nokia Philippines.

Create and submit your brilliant idea on IdeasProject Community Website until the deadline of April 14, 2011.

The winning idea should benefit the environment either locally or be a solution that would be scalable nationwide or worldwide. All eligible User Material received on the Earth Hour Challenge will be judged based on the following criteria: (1) quality and functionality; (2) usability and creativity; (3) uniqueness, novelty value and innovativeness; (4) commercial viability and ability to benefit the environment and/or address the issue of climate change.

In addition to sharing your idea, you are invited as well to make a concrete commitment. Go to www.earthhour.org/beyondthehour and name a concrete action in your day-to-day life to make our world a better place.

The best idea and the winner will be announced on May 27, 2011. Winner will awarded with one of Nokia’s eco leading devices: Nokia C7, Nokia C6-01, Nokia N8 or Nokia E7. Nokia has the right, but no obligation, to award any additional prizes.
