Ukokkei Ramen Ron: One of Manila's Best

Catching up with a friend one afternoon, we decided to visit Ukokkei Ramen Ron (URR) in the long stretch of Pasay Road to try out one of Manila's best restaurants. It is a cozy place serving gyoza, sake, Japanese beers, and of course different kinds of ramen.

The restaurant was empty when we arrived past 3:30 in the afternoon, which made us think they were closed. However, upon closer inspection, the lights were just turned off to save electricity.

Though the place had simple fixtures, the excitement is building up as we have a taste of their ramen.

Ramen is a Japanese noodle dish that originated in China. At URR, they serve three kinds of ramen broth, namely Shio (salt), Shoyu (soy) and Miso (soy). New to the place, we asked what the best seller is, and they recommended the Miso Butter Corn Ramen (pictured below) that costs Php360.00.

The main ingredients of what we ordered were noodles, meat, bean sprouts, butter, chopped green onions leaves, and corn -- all of which tasted very well altogether. The noodles were chewy and the bean sprouts were still fresh and crunchy. The miso soup had a good balance of taste with the corn that was a little sweet.

Gyoza (pictured above) still tasted good even if the bottom part was kinda burnt.

Trip or Treats got took the photo above, which says the restaurant is open from 11am to 12mn unless they run out of soup. Ask why, head on to her post about URR.

Go and visit the restaurant and try it out yourself. You won't regret traveling to that place just to taste their ramen.

Glad you enjoyed the ramen. My daughter has been bugging me to go back.

been curious about this place because i've been hearing about it. some other blogger said the noodles were soft and not chewy. i was disillusioned by that because i know real ramen should be chewy. thank you for clearing that up. that other blogger just didn't know what he was talking about.

the ramen noodles were good but they're expensive

I find it too expensive, even for a bowl of good ramen. The broth was too oily too.

Hi Jo! I guess good ramen really costs that much. Even the ones at Ramen Bar restaurant are priced at 200 and up.

I think good ramen would really cost a bit higher. I also eat Ramen in HK and they're expensive too. If you chose the same ramen as mine, it would definitely be oily since it has butter. :)
