Sunday Trip to Enchanted Kingdom

One fine Sunday got exciting when some bloggers and I were invited to an afternoon trip to Enchanted Kingdom (EK). The weather was schizophrenic for being too hot in Manila yet rainy in Laguna.

Truly, EK has lived up to their tagline "the magic stays with you" -- visible from the long lines we saw even if it was rainy. I haven't been to EK for more than 3 years, and now that I'm back, the thrill of riding Anchor's Away, Flying Fiesta, and Space Shuttle among others was still there.

Aside from the rides that were at stake that day, we also got the chance to witness the Flores de Laguna en Mayo, a park-wide Santacruzan (or parade). It was supposed to start at three in the afternoon, but due to rains and other delays, it started roughly around 5:30PM. It was led by the band followed by Reyna's (Queens), little princesses, and winners of the Miss Philippines Earth 2010.

Of Photos and Technology

Yours truly had the chance to visit Art Samaniego, Editor of the Manila Bulletin (MB) Technews section last week to have a glimpse of the latest (and oldest) gadgets there is in the publication's technology department.

I was awed at the gadgets I saw, ranging from a television that has swivel feature, old phones to wireless speakers, heaviest player and of course Apple's iPad. Look, GLICH'S LIFE is on Apple's renowned iPad!

The gadgets that can be found in the office were either from the an MB boss (or his ancestors) or were purchased locally and internationally for the sole purpose of writing reviews.

KFC Pasta Bowl You Gotta Love

If you are a chicken lover, you'd surely die for KFC's unique-tasting chicken. But what if you are kinda bored of eating chicken with rice every time? KFC has the solution for you.
What you see above is their new variant called the KFC Creamy Tomato Pasta Bowl, adding to their first two flavors named Italian Alfredo and Kung Pao Chicken. It's an afternoon snack packed with boneless original recipe chicken served over al dente noodles and topped with creamy tomato sauce.

Ultimate Taste Test 4: A Great Foodie Event

Organized by the one and only Anton Diaz of OurAwesomePlanet.com, the 4th installment of the Ultimate Taste Test (UTT) happened last May 14 at the NBC Tent, Fort Bonifacio with over 1,000 foodies.

What is UTT? It's a gathering of different concessionaires who are giving free taste of their products that will be soon launched, or products that are already available in the market. In exchange of the free taste, foodies will give them a rating in the scale of 1-5 (5 being the highest). Those getting a good rating average will be featured in OAP for a chance to even boost their popularity and sales.

Foodies have to pay Php230, where Php200 goes to MASED Foundation, while Php30 for a bottle of San Miguel alcoholic drinks -- mind you, the price is really worth it!

Adidas Originals Street Party Rocks Venice Piazza

Adidas Philippines brought originality in the "streets" of Venice Piazza, McKinley Hill at Fort Bonifacio last May 7, 2010 evening. Hosted by Magic 89.9 DJs Slick Rick and Sam YG with former UAAP court side reporter Lia Cruz, Adidas gathered athletes, models, skaters, entertainers, bloggers and media together to show their style and originality.

The event area was filled with exhibitionists (skaters, bikers, magician, etc.), food (barbecue, fish balls, etc.), booze by Sober Club, and not to forget -- a lot of beautiful people here and there. With the punky stage all set, models showed apparels and footwear from the Summer and Spring collections of Adidas. To make it more interesting, they included models in costumes of Darth Vader, Leia Organa, Luke Skywalker, and a bunch of Storm Troopers from Star Wars, which people got crazy about.

There was also an area where you can have your Adidas shoes personalized, simple or complex design, for free.

Mother's Day Dinner at Mandarin Sky

Happy Mother's Day to your mom, to her mom, and to her mom's mom! Wherever you are in the world, we should be thankful that we have a mother to nurture, care, love, and discipline us.

May 9 marks quite a historical date for our family, as we dine out at Mandarin Sky Seafood and Shabu-Shabu Restaurant to celebrate mother's day -- an occasion we don't usually celebrate. At first, mom requested to watch a movie, but plans changed so we had dinner instead. The staff there welcomed my mom with a rose to commemorate the said occasion.

Knowing that this is a shabu-shabu restaurant (meaning there's a soup and you have to put in seafood, vegetables, meat, etc.), we were initially thinking of having that. But the hunger and laziness in us made us choose otherwise. Let me describe the aspects of the restaurant one by one.

Interiors and Ambiance. The restaurant was well-lit, had simple wall designs and ceiling lamps. The back-padding of the "sofa" chairs were colored yellow and printed with Chinese words. However, the spacing between the chair and table was too narrow. Also, because the table has a heating panel for the shabu-shabu type of eating, space for food is quite small if you order a lot.
