"What makes you, as a Filipino, happy?"

Summer is the best time for fun, sun, adventure, friends, and explorations!

Work takes most of our time (and our life) after we leave the academe and start our journey up the corporate ladder. We sometimes forget that we also need to take the time off and enjoy our lives. As a Filipino, we have the innate traits of being friendly, loving, and adventurous. As such, showing these to people very dear to my heart is what makes me the happiest.

A gathering of friends to try out something new and/or adventurous makes me want to shout, "This is life! This is happiness!"

Automated Elections 2010: 15 Things to Remember on May 10

I got a list of things-to-remember today from a YahooGroup I'm subscribed to. I think it's very useful that we make it a point to know these things, so that we won't make mistakes and in return spoil our votes/ballots. Please feel free to share this to your family and friends who will be voting, especially for those voting for the first time.

Since this is the first automated elections the country is having, it's going to take some adjustment and adaptation on the part of voters, and extra knowledge/information is sure to help anyone heading to the polls on May 10, 2010.

1. The ballot is very, very sensitive to marks, ink, H20, stains, scratches, folds, sweat, etc. If, say, you have grime on your hands, or your hands are wet, or your sweat drips onto the ballot, the PCOS (Precinct Count Optical Scan) Unit will not read it. So, keep your hands very clean before voting. That is why the indelible ink will be put on your finger after you're done voting, and not before, and why you will be given your ballot in a folder, a "Ballot Secrecy Folder", so that you can lessen the actual handling of the ballot with your hands.

2. Shade the egg-shaped hole beside your chosen candidate fully (you will be provided with a marker). Don't check, line, X, dot, or half-shade it, because the PCOS Unit will not read it. Try not to go beyond the lines also (well, not too much).

3. There will be a barcode going around the ballot. If this is marked, even scratched, in any way, the ballot will be spoiled. If anyone else handles the ballot, watch them well, in case they intentionally scratch the barcode with a fingernail to prevent your ballot from being counted.

4. You will have four tries to put your ballot through the PCOS Unit. You can put it in forward, backward, front side up, back side up, whichever, but only four tries. If after the 4th try it doesn't read properly, goodbye ballot.

5. You will get one chance to have your ballot changed if you don't like it. When the officials first hand the ballot to you, inspect it right away. If you see any folds, scratches, or marks, you can ask for a change.

iPhone 4.0 OS: All New Features

With today's session, Steve Jobs together with his team announced several new features to wait for in the OS 4.0 of iPhone and iPods. These are multitasking, app folders, improved mail, custom backgrounds, iBooks, 5x digital zoom, game center and iAd advertising.

Coming this Summer 2010 is the release of iPhone 3Gs and iPod Touch's 4.0 OS upgrade, while it's Fall 2010 for the iPad. iPhone 3G, on the other hand, will get "many updates" but won't include multitasking.

Globe Telecom Partners with Xurpas for Twitter Service

Twitter has emerged as the biggest social networking and microblogging service today. With users being able to send and read messages in 140 characters known as tweets, it has changed the way many people live - they can't take tweeting away from their daily lives (and that includes me). Twitter is sometimes called the "SMS of Internet." As such, many developers have been creating external applications in order for users to be able to twit using their mobile phones.

Today, we received a news from @DigitalFilipino via Twitter that Globe Telecom is now offering a Mobile Tweet service in partnership with Xurpas, the mobile solution experts for emerging markets. Obviously, the telco company saw this as an additional income, as Twitter has proven to be a "necessity" nowadays.

If you're on Globe, just send Tweet to 2363 and you'll receive an infotext regarding this new service. Registration is FREE of charge, but sending a tweet or direct message will incur you P1/text. You may also subscribe to Unlitweets by sending UNLITWEET to 2363 for P20/day.

For questions, call 632-8895947 or visit www.xurpas.com/tweet.

Globe Telecom's 4438 Big Reveal

Yours truly is one of the 1.7 million subscribers who was not able to receive Globe Telecom's 4438 reveal on April 4, as advertised. This was brought about by the extremely high traffic generated by subscriber transactions with the 4438 service number on Sunday, which also contributed to the reaching of time cut-off set by the National Telecommunications Commission for Globe's text blasting.

The SMS finally arrived at 11:59AM today. With the help of Twitter, Internet, Facebook and other blogs, I didn't have to wait for the SMS to know what the program is all about. Apparently, the 4438 reveal is all about attracting new customers and keeping current subscribers through its My Rewards, My Globe point-system rewards program.

The rewards program is open to all postpaid and prepaid subscribers, wherein everyone using Globe is already part of this permanent program. Unlike promos that can be suspended at any time the telecom company wants to, this program is seen to last for a lifetime.

Chowking Delivery Site Now Online

March 31, 2010 (Wednesday) saw the launching of Chowking's brand new spanking delivery site at www.chowkingdelivery.com. As of this writing, their main homepage is under construction, but I'm pretty sure it will have a link to the delivery site as well. For reasons I still don't know, they've created an alternate URL at www.iwantchowking.com, which has the same content as of the first link.

A very inviting picture of Halo-Halo and their new Orange Chicken welcomes you on the onset. I personally got hungry upon seeing the image, but it's not all about those two. Whether you're craving for lunch or dinner food (in individual or group sets), merienda (snacks), desserts, beverages, etc., you can choose them all from Chowking's wide-variety of food menu and have it delivered right to your doorstep. Now that's Chinese cooked food with a convenience. Orders are accepted from 8:00AM to 12:00MN.
