Century Tuna Superbods Run 2010

February 21, 2010 marked my first 5-kilometers run for the year 2010 at the Century Tuna Superbods Run 2010. Being with friends Pam and Richard, it was a great way to start running again after a year of hiatus.

Woke up at 3:45AM to prepare myself for the run, then went to fetch Pam by 4:20AM. We arrived at the Fort, the running venue, a little past 5AM and it was jampacked -- cars were overflowing and streets were blocked. We thought we won't be able to run anymore, but fortunately we were able to find a parking space near Market! Market! It seemed to be far away from the starting point, but I realized it's actually not.

After finishing the run in 00:31:00, we went on and got our freebies before heading to Mary Grace for breakfast.

To Coach Rio and the organizers, I think the Century Tuna Superbods Run 2010 had a great planning but with a lousy execution. It was not implemented with utmost consideration of all aspects of a race. Aside from the overflowing number of registrants that reached to more than 11,000, the gun start came in earlier than scheduled, the marshals weren't enough, the signs weren't as visible as it should be, and the medical stations weren't enough as well. I have to say that I got disappointed because I was expecting much. Perhaps, because of the different perspective of the organizers in wanting first time runners to start living a healthier lifestyle, they carried on with the registration even though they knew the risk of not being able to handle the huge crowd well.

On the other hand, I have to say Kudos to the organizing team, because such event won't happen if not for their persistence, hard work, and love for what they do. Overall, it was still a fun run! Things could be improved though, of course.

Up next is the Unilab Run United for Wellness on March 7, 2010.

Microsoft Launches Windows Phone 7 Series

Microsoft's latest version of its mobile operating system -- Windows Phone 7 Series -- has just been unveiled in the Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona. The event was opened by Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer with a very brief welcoming address.

Looking very closely like a Zune, the Windows Phone 7 Series has an Xbox Live and Zune integration, which aims to bring these two together in a single mobile phone. They're introducing a new term called "Hubs", which pulls everything you want and bring it all to one place. Microsoft units are said to be available 'by holiday 2010.'
